PRESS-e-ənt (adjective of prescience) = foreknowledge of events; divine omniscience
Whether it was divine omniscience or simply human anticipation of events is a conversation better debated over a beer. Either way, Prescient Audio's ThinDriver technology was an idea born ahead of its time to Paul Niedermann.
He simply didn't like a huge speaker system taking up trunk space in his car and thought there had to be a better way. He's always been like that; generally discontent with the conventional way things work and able to rethink a product and its technology. Paul is what a college professor called a "lateral thinker" an innovative, creative type who likes to advocate for end-users like himself.
So, based on a youthful experience building speaker cabinets, and his unique ability to (literally) think outside the speaker box, Paul created a new driver with both the thinnest profile and the truest, most consistent sound across all audible levels...in the industry. (He's got the impedance curve studies to prove it.)
Paul started designing his driver in 2007 and by 2009 had built the first prototype. He's been developing and refining ever since thinner design, better sound, lighter weight, scalability. Somewhere in this process he realized that it was becoming more than just a speaker for his car and something for everyone who likes good sound.
In 2011, around the time Paul applied for the patent, he met Karl Schmitt at EIGERlab in Rockford, Illinois. Karl was leading a team of local executives to locate and help develop high-growth potential businesses in the Rockford area. Divine omniscience or just incredible luck? Again, a conversation saved for a good brew and a late night.
Regardless, when Karl came on board, Prescient Audio, the business enterprise behind ThinDriver technology, began in earnest. James Neidermann, who had been unofficially helping his brother Paul with industry research and development, officially joined the company to lead marketing and sales. Completing the Prescient Audio team in 2012 was veteran director of finance and financial consultant Brian McMahon, who quickly recognized a brilliant idea and joined the core group of founders.
Together they are re-inventing the audio speaker from the sound up.
Their Mission: Simply to produce the greatest sounding audio in the thinnest, coolest, and lightest system packages possible!
Though 80 percent of today's speakers are manufactured in China, Prescient Audio is committed to American manufacturing and production. Plans are being finalized to build Prescient ThinDriver in the heartland of the USA: Rockford, Illinois.
